Stephen ministry

Are you going through a difficult time? Stephen Ministers are members of our congregation who listen, care and encourage, and provide emotional and spiritual support to people who are facing a crisis or going through tough times.

The care you’ll receive is confidential, free, and helpful. To learn how you can receive care - you may contact the church office at 354-8439 x 111 and your request will be confidentially relayed to our Stephen Ministries director, or leave a message on our confidential prayer line at ext. 109.

What is a Stephen Minister?

Stephen Ministers are laypeople—Christian men and women—trained to provide one-to-one care to people experiencing a difficult time in life, such as grief, divorce, job loss, chronic or terminal illness, relocation, or separation due to military deployment.

Stephen Ministers come from all walks of life. Their commonality? A passion for bringing Christ’s love and care to people during a time of need.

Since 1975, more than 600,000 people from more than 11,000 congregations and other organizations have been trained as Stephen Ministers.

Who is Stephen Ministries For?

Stephen Ministries serves congregation members and others in the community. These are people struggling through a difficult time in life—experiencing grief, divorce, job loss, chronic or terminal illness, or some other life crisis.

Some important guidelines for this caring relationship protect both the care receiver and the Stephen Minister:

  • The relationship between a care receiver and a Stephen Minister is confidential.
  • Men are matched with men; women with women.
