This Nov. and Dec. will be full of events this year! There is not a dull week in our calendar. There are opportunities to participate in mission experiences, special worship events, or fellowship happenings. Check them out below:
Beginning Nov. 13 is our annual Operation Christmas Child Shoe Box collection date. Our children will collect the shoe boxes during the worship service that day. We hope to break our record of 100 boxes. Following Worship, there will be a church wide chili lunch sponsored by 55 Alive!, our Adult ministry. Everyone is encouraged to attend and those wishing to bring a pot of chili to compete in the cook-off are asked to sign-up in Covenant Hall following worship or contact Rev. Stroud. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes will be awarded to the best Chili recipes.
Tickets are now on sale for our Ninth Annual Ladies Night Out, “An Evening in November!” The cost is $20 per person and includes a delicious meal, beautiful music, and a wonderful speaker. Tickets will only be available until Sunday, November 13, or until they are sold out. Invite your family and friends to join you on Friday, November 18 at 6:30 p.m. for this lovely evening!
Nov. 20 - 10:30 AM - Annual Kirkin' O' the Tartan - This is a special worship service celebrating our Scottish heritage. Presentation of Scottish tartans as well as music by First Coast Highlanders (a Bagpipe and Drum Corps.) are a few of the unusual elements of this service. Following the service we will honor all of our new members during the last year at a New Member Reception in Covenant Hall. Please come and greet our new members.
IT’S SALVATION ARMY BELL RINGING TIME! Once again FPC is one of approximately 20 churches in the Jacksonville area which will be helping with the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign during Christmas season. This year we will be ringing at the Publix, 7117 Merrill Road, (corner of Townsend and Merrill Road) beginning Friday, November 25 through Thursday, December 1.with the exception of Sunday, November 27. (We do not participate on Sunday.) Look for the Red Kettle in the front of the sanctuary to sign up or contact the church office or 354-8439 x 111.
Dec. 4 at 10:00 AM the Chancel Choir and FPC Orchestra will present their Christmas Musical Presentation " 'Specially for Shepherds : a Contemporary Christmas Cantata" by Ralph Carmichael. This Worship Service will include a Homily by our Sr. Pastor, Rev. Dr. Robert L. Morris, Jr. on his Advent 2016 Series: First Christmas and will conclude with Communion. Following the service there will be a church wide lunch in the Dining Hall. The Musical is free and open to all, but reservations are required for the lunch Please contact the church office to make your reservations.
Dec. 11 at 6:00 PM we are proud to present the Ugandan Kids Choir. The children in the Ugandan Kids Choir bring a message of hope—sharing the power of love through traditional music and dance. As they tour the US, they delight audiences with their high-energy performances and infectious joy.
Dec. 18 at 6:00 PM we are very excited to present Keyboards at Christmas. Four grand pianos and one majestic organ proclaim the sounds of the season. This is a free musical event sure to awe everyone!
